Why Everyone’s Glad the Football Period Is Back

25 August 2010

While the hot summer days start to end, anticipation starts to grow for the upcoming Football Season. Diehard supporters of Manchester United are confident that their team will reclaim the Premier League Trophy from Chelsea. Liverpool and Arsenal are as well hoping to win the title. Maybe a longshot will upset the top 4 and claim the championship. Now that the season begins, everyone has hopes and dreams that their hometown team can win it all.

Out in the pubs, talk is heating up. Fans are all set to set aside their weekends and focus about the world’s most popular sport. As the number one professional football league in England, the majority of the attention is directed toward the Premier League’s premier teams. Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have dominated the sport for the last 15 years or so. The other 16 teams that make up the league may not be given a lot of a chance to win the championship, but, their fans are just as excited about the new period.

Bets are being placed at the local betting parlors. In England, the only thing football fans like much better than watching a football match is placing a bet on a football match. With the recent frustrating performance in the World Cup in South Africa, football fans are anxious to see their heroes back in action. Although, the sting of defeat still flows via the blood of dedicated fans of the national team, it is time to move on and watch the best football league in the world.

Women may not see much of their husbands because the period gets underway. Like the “football widows” in America, who should resign themselves to their husband’s passion for that National Football League (NFL), British women also find themselves becoming ignored in favor of an essential football match. On the other hand, numerous women are also dedicated football fans and set aside everything when a match is underway.

There is something of a national spirit that overtakes the country throughout football period. Everyone wants to know the score from the matches. Individuals go to pubs or gather at friend’s houses to appreciate the games. Stadiums are generally full to capacity and it might be impossible to get tickets to the best matches.

A football match is a time to escape from the realities of daily life. For a few hours, no body stresses about their bills accumulating or difficulties at their place of employment. Everyone from young children to senior citizens can enjoy the sport. Children kick the ball around, pretending to be their favorite football hero. A header for a goal or a spectacular save by the goalkeeper, brings about a real celebration. Teenage boys play football on a beginner level and take it very seriously. It may start out as a way to get some excercise, but, quickly turns into an all out fight for victory.

So, everybody can raise a tall cold brew and welcome back the 2010 football period. Good luck to all!
